JOKE
He knows he is ignorant, cruel,
and amoral; he is proud of it
When others speak ill of him,
taking aim with their humor,
inciting people to laugh at him,
his indignation swells like a
painful boil, an infected tooth,
a pointed viral internet meme
spreading around the world;
especially if he knows it’s true.
He takes himself too seriously
trying to compensate for the
many who refuse to take him
Seriously enough. Along with a
complete lack of compassion,
empathy, or morals he has no
sense of humor, especially
where it concerns his image.
He knows many see him as a joke.
But he allows no one to point it
out, to use it to prompt jeers at
his expense, to call him on any
of it, point it out to his gullible
cult; he can never allow that.
It feels inevitable that I, with my
sharpened, caustic poems, will fall
afoul of his ill humor. One of his
rabid guard dogs will make a lunge
for the loose skin of my throat, to
silence my offensive words for good;
I only hope there will be others to
taunt him to his grave in my absence.
